UPDATE: Technology failed on the first run, please join for the rescheduled time, Monday August 1, 4:30 PM CDT.

Join a live King Hero Interview with a man who was not going to take it anymore. For myself, as the daughter of entrepreneurs who were extorted and made to slave to collect taxes for the government, Jean-Serge Brisson’s mission is close to my heart.

In this interview we will talk about the story he tells in his book, Tea Party for One, that caused Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to take him to court, and how he won by showing how the government was breaking their own laws, and perpetuating a system they admit is broken and dysfunctional. We’re also going to discuss the subject of his second book he’s writing that provides proof of the CRA lying in court.

In his own words about how he started his path of speaking out.

“I was born on a dairy farm and worked around farmers all my life. I know their issues well. The reason I did not become a farmer is because I found the government involved in to much of what farmers do. I ran for elections many times and am a hardened Libertarian.

But I do believe in people finding their own solutions to problems that cannot be resolved in a normal course of action such as Market Management for dairy. It is the industry that regulates it and controls it, Not government. There should be room to allow farmers to work outside Market Management and be free to deal with the public if they so wish to do. It would save MANY a small dairy farm."

Biography (adapted from Wikipedia):

Jean-Serge Brisson (born June 28, 1954) is a Canadian political activist, tax reform (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_reform) advocate, politician, and author. He is a former leader of the Libertarian Party of Canada (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_Party_of_Canada), and from 2000 to 2008 was elected as a municipal councillor in Russell Twp, his hometown of Embrun is in that TWP. He gained national notoriety in the 1990s for his opposition to businesses being forced to collect the provincial sales tax (PST) without being remunerated.

Brisson was born in Embrun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrun,_Ontario), Ontario, a small village to the east of Ottawa (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa) and raised on a dairy farm. He describes his early experiences with jobs and bosses to have put him off from ever being able to work for a boss, wanting to instead start his own business and be his own boss. He first apprenticed as a radiator technician and, in 1974, opened his own company in Embrun, Independent Radiator Co.

In the early 1990s, Brisson refused to continue collecting the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) putting forward the idea to the then New Democratic Party of Bob Rae, that collection of any money by small business for any government is slavery.

Brisson said he never agreed to be hired as a tax collector for the provincial government, but if he was going to be doing their work, he expected to be paid the same as other provincial tax collectors.

Brisson documented his experience in his book titled Tea Party of One: All Governments Invited. In 1994, Brisson claims to have ceased filing income takes returns.
